Writing
Kat Spence is an emerging poet whose work has been premiered on Sky TV and Vue Cinemas.
Their writing is motivated by their lived experience. The grit of living in the often overlooked and misunderstood steeltown of Scunthorpe is a recurrent theme.
They have previously performed as the support act for the Four Johns spoken word theatre show and had their poems featured as part of the Luke Jerrram 'Of Earth and Sky' Project which went on to win the Arts Council England 2022 Hearts for the Arts Award.
They have been featured on radio and podcasts such as Hull Is This and WHFM, has performed at regional Poetry Nights. Kat has had their works published in Issue 2 & 3 of Lincolnshire Strange Delights Zine, as well as in Myth & Lore Zine.
Along with two other local writers, Michael Gadie and Graeme Williams, Kat also organises Speak Out Scunny, Scunthorpe's premier spoken word open mic night at Café INDIE.
